I finally heard back from the British Ministry! I will be a translator for their foreign language division!

J'ai finalement reçu une lettre de la mère. Je suis soulagé d'entendre que Gabrielle se porte bien. Je craignais la guerre aurait un effet durable sur elle, mais elle est plus forte que je lui ai donné de crédit. En fait, elle a pris à la danse! J'aimerais la voir bientôt. Je suis sûr qu'elle est très talentueuse.
En dehors de cela, je pense à trouver un emploi. J'aimerais travailler avec le ministère. Peut-être que je pourrais corriger certains des torts qu'ils ont faits dans le passé. J'ai seulement besoin de prendre une position et j'aimerais peut-être demander, mais je ne sais par où commencer!

I am concerned about some of the hiring policies in the Ministry. Do you think they would accept a "halfbreed"? I do not like that terminology, but that is what they would label me, non?
{OOC: Translation - I finally received a letter from Mother. I am relieved to hear that Gabrielle is doing well. I feared the War would have a lasting effect on her, but she is stronger than I gave her credit for. In fact, she has taken up dancing! I would love to see her soon. I'm sure she is very talented.
Other than that, I am thinking about getting a job. I would love to work with the Ministry. Perhaps I could right some of the wrongs they have made in the past. I only need to pick a position I might like and apply for it, but I hardly know where to begin!} |

All of this time, I have been healing from that awful night. I cannot - and do not - want to recall it. But I have discovered that if I do not examine and re-examine my actions, I cannot begin to forgive myself and move on. By doing so, I have come to the conclusion that there was nothing more I could have done. No one should blame themselves for what they could not do when under such enormous pressure.
Besides, most of us are alive, oui? That is what matters most.
